I've read a book about a tween girl from way back in my grandparents or parents generation and she seemed so innocent (the way she wrote in her diary, her friends, hobbies, relationship with parents, etc).

I heard from adults that not as many kids cared about getting the most expensive toy or clothes and they actually listen to their parents and did their schoolwork most of the time.
